The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the detailed notification for RRB JE Recruitment 2026 (CEN No. 04/2026) to fill 3,993 vacancies on 13 August 2026 (Today) on its official website for the posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) across various railway zones.

Candidates with a three-year Diploma or an Engineering Degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university/institution can submit their application from 14 August 2026 till the last date, 13th September 2026. Eligibility Criteria for RRB JE Recruitment 2026

RRB JE Educational Qualification

RRB JE Medical Standards & Eye Sight Criteria

Candidates must check their medical standards before applying for the junior engineer posts.

Important Note: Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any other refractive-error correction surgery are not eligible for Junior Engineer posts requiring the A-3 medical standard.

RRB JE Nationality Criteria

A candidate must be one of the following:

  • An Indian citizen
  • A citizen of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, intending to permanently settle here
  • An Indian-origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, & East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), intending to permanently settle in India.

Selection Process for RRB JE 2026

The RRB JE Selection Process consists of four stages: CBT 1, CBT 2, Document Verification (DV), & Medical Examination. The final merit list is prepared based on candidates’ performance in the CBT 2 exam.

Stage 2 CBT 2 Exam A test covering General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Computer Applications, Environment & Pollution Control, and branch-specific Technical Abilities (used for the final merit list).
Stage 3 Document Verification (DV) Verification of educational, age, and category certificates for candidates shortlisted based on CBT 2 exam.
Stage 4 Medical Examination A fitness test as per Railways’ prescribed medical standards before final selection.

Important Note: Shortlisting for CBT-2 will be done at a 15:1 ratio based on normalized scores from CBT-1.

 

RRB JE 2026 Application Fee & Refund Terms

Candidates applying for RRB JE 2026 must pay the application fee online as given in the table below. The fee is refundable for candidates who appear in the CBT 1 exam.

Application Fee Refund Terms

  • Only candidates who appear in the 1st Stage CBT exam will be eligible for the refund of the application fee after deduction of applicable bank charges.
  • If the candidate’s application is rejected, incomplete, submitted with incorrect details, or the candidate does not appear for the 1st Stage CBT, there will be no refund of the fees.
  • To receive the refund successfully, candidates must confirm that their bank account information is accurate.

RRB JE 2026 Exam Pattern

The Exam Pattern is divided into 2 parts: CBT 1 Exam Pattern & CBT 2 Exam Pattern. After applying for the RRB JE Recruitment 2026, candidates must understand the patterns for both CBT exams. The detailed Exam Pattern is given in the table below.
